Cut The Crap!

Sorry for the slightly vulgar title today, but it holds some truth to it.
For those who know me know that I can not eat anything without having a drink to swallow my food down. They also know I hate drinking water.... so what does that leave me with? You guessed it juice and pop! and lots of it!
I have a self claimed addiction to coke... as in coca-cola. I drink anywhere from 1-3 cans of coke daily. I've been noticing some changes in my health and figure recently (and no not good changes!) and I've decided its time to cut the crap! While my whole diet needs changing I'm going to take it one step at a time. As of March 10th 2014 I have decided to completely remove all types of soda from my diet for at least one month. Today is day 11 and let me tell you it has not been easy!
I have been craving and twitching for any kind of pop all eleven days but I'm really passionate about this and so I've had pretty good will power. Every time I crave coke I take a sip of my water bottle that I have been carrying around with me everywhere. (It's really cute and pink with a floral pattern!) Drinking water has not been easy on me because I simply hate it. I hate the taste of it yet at the same time I hate the lack of flavour it has (bare with me I know I'm weird). Any ways, even though I haven't noticed a change in my figure, I am feeling less bloated and the best part of this is that I don't feel like I constantly have to go to the wash room. So on April 10th 2014 I will update you guys and let you know how I held up for the month and what kind of changes I've noticed.

Any of you have a horrible addiction to an unhealthy food/drink? I know I can't be alone in this!

  1. It's good you're trying to make a change! I used to be the same, not with coke alone, but with junk food in general..and it definitely did not do any good for me. I hadn't even tried to make a change and i started getting sick a lot, so now i've cut down on junk food a lot and im working to become healthy again InshaAllah!
It really is hard! but keep it up!! :)

  2. Good for you Lenz! I had no idea you drank so much pop but this is a really good change and your adorable water bottle definitely makes it motivating to drink more water! Keep it up!

  3. This is the first time I've heard someone say they don't like the taste of water. Have you tried infusing it with fruit? Might help.
Also good luck on cutting coke out of your diet. I'm an occasional soda drinker but I've seen much people addicted to it. Sigh.

    1. I know I have yet to meet someone that doesn't like water :(, but I've been meaning to try some berries actually, so Inshallah i'll get around to it tomorrow and honestly I like to think I'll be able to stay away from soda forever but I know I cant, all I can hope for is to become an occasional soda drinker like yourself :) Thanks for your suggestion :D

    1. oooo i love ginger ale too! haha but you are right sometimes the easiest way to avoid pop is to just stop buying it, then youre left no choice but to drink juice or water at home! but I'm glad you were able to stop it!! :)

  5. I went through the exact same thing, except my addiction was Fanta Fruit Twist. I went through most of high school and uni not drinking any water (except if I absolutely *absolutely* had to). I randomly decided to 'cut the crap' at the end of last year and I'm so glad I did. I first substituted Fanta with apple juice and Ribena because like you, I didn't really like water all that much. Few months down the road now, and I drink tons of water everyday, along with some Ribena. Don't quit! In the long run, it is so worth it. And you'll look back one day and wonder how you could have been so addicted to crack (sorry, coke) in the first place ;-)

    1. It's good to know I wasnt alone in my battle against pop lol! Apple juice and lemonade are my favourite! It's what I drink when Im trying to avoid pop! It feels good to know someone was successful at staying away from pop, so thank you for encouraging words. Inshallah I can also continue to stay away. Ever since I've done this experiment I find myself reaching for water more and more alhamdiallah :)
